At Kelowna Early Explorers Academy, our mission is to provide a high-quality early learning experience in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. We are dedicated to supporting each child’s growth by fostering independence, self-confidence, and a positive sense of identity and belonging.

Through a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities, we aim to:

Our Program

At Kelowna Early Explorers Academy, our program is thoughtfully designed to support the whole child—socially, physically, emotionally, intellectually, creatively, and in the development of a strong self-concept. We also recognize the importance of supporting families and building strong partnerships between home and centre.

Our educators respond attentively to each child’s individual needs, interests, and cues, fostering meaningful interactions that support growth and learning. Through guided exploration and intentional play, children are encouraged to engage with the world around them in ways that foster confidence and curiosity.

We use emergent themes and project-based learning to expand children’s understanding of their environment. These themes are naturally woven into our learning centres—such as art, sensory, dramatic play, literacy, and science—to enrich their experiences and make learning both fun and relevant.

By creating a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment, we help each child thrive as they begin their journey of lifelong learning.

Description of the Child Care Program

Approach to Supporting Children's Development

Social Development
At Kelowna Early Explorers Academy, children are encouraged to engage with both peers and educators in meaningful, self-directed activities. Through these daily interactions, they learn how to be part of a group, develop cooperation skills, and build appropriate social behaviours in a nurturing environment.

Physical Development
Children at our centre have daily opportunities to enhance both gross and fine motor skills through engaging play and hands-on activities. We prioritize healthy growth by supporting children's needs for nutrition, rest, and active play. Our centre maintains a safe and secure environment through vigilant supervision and adheres to all British Columbia health and safety regulations for licensed childcare facilities.

Intellectual Development
We provide children with rich opportunities to explore, question, and understand the world around them. Through discovery-based learning and language development activities, children build cognitive skills while also enhancing their communication and listening abilities. Intellectual growth is thoughtfully integrated with emotional, social, and creative learning.

Creative Development
Creative expression is a key part of the learning experience at Kelowna Early Explorers Academy. Children engage in imaginative and hands-on play across various learning centres including art, science, water and sand play, dramatic play, carpentry, and more. These experiences foster problem-solving, experimentation, and innovation.

Emotional Development
We recognize and respect each child as a unique individual. Our supportive environment encourages children to build self-confidence, express their emotions appropriately, and develop independence. Through positive role modeling by our educators, children learn empathy, affection, and how to navigate their emotional world with resilience and care.
